Louise Millington

Louise Millington (highland pipes / whistle) Brought up in Eastriggs, Dumfriesshire, from a very early age I accompanied my dad, Willy Marshall, at Gretna Green whilst he entertained tourists playing the pipes and performing mock ceremonies. I started playing the pipes and competing at the age of 9 and enjoyed playing at Gretna Green during school holidays until the age of 17. My first pipe band I joined was Maclean of Annan and then joined Scottish Gas Caledonia in Edinburgh, upon completion of my studies, in 1990. In 1991, I moved to Hamurg for 2 years and taught a German pipeband, as well as playing regularly with various folk bands and competing in the European solo piping circuit. Upon my return to Edinburgh in 1993, I re-joined Scottish Gas and competed and toured Brittany with them on a number of occasions. Martin and myself formed Cantara in 1999.
